RACHEL TALKS IRISH

VOTE FOR CANADA'S NEXT GREAT BEER FLAVOUR

RACHEL TALKS IRISH

By Rachel Sutherland

When I joined Innis & Gunn back in the winter of 2012 one of my first jobs was to coordinate the brewing of our Irish Whiskey Stout.  The barrel-aged stout became hot property when it was released in February 2012.  The world’s first beer to be aged in former Irish whiskey barrels, it sold out in record time and won a gold medal at the International Beer Challenge. Due to massive demand the beer was brought back for release in 2013 and its popularity continues so we’ve brought it back, yet again.

It is such a full flavoured stout with loads of coffee and spices on the aroma from the malt and roast barley and a rich, complex flavour with a velvety smooth finish.  The coconut notes from the oak are really distinctive on the nose.  Like all Innis & Gunn beers, it can be enjoyed on its own, but is also a great partner to a selection of assertively flavoured dishes including rich beef stew, blue cheese or oysters. For those with a sweet tooth, it goes beautifully with treacle pudding.

It’s just a perfect winter warmer for those cold, wet nights.  And if it’s an popular as the last two batches you’d best wrap yourself up and get to the shops quick, before it’s gone. Or if you’re UK based you can buy it now through our Online Shop (it saves braving the weather!).
