Learn how to brew beer the Innis & Gunn way
Ever since we launched our first Innis & Gunn barrel aged beer in 2003, we have been pushing boundaries. We are constantly trying to take brewing to the next level by experimenting with new processes and techniques.
A lot of brewers would jealously guard the knowledge and experience they’ve picked up from their research, but we’re not like other brewers.
We want to share our knowledge with you and through the beer brewing lessons at our Innis & Gunn Brew School, we’ll even go so far as to teach you how to brew your own beer the Innis & Gunn way!
Our Brew Schools start at 12pm, every weekend. The minimum group size is 2, so it’s a great way to enjoy developing the skills behind your beer brewing hobby alongside your family, friends or partner. We also run Brew Schools in each of our Taprooms.
Using our favourite piece of beer brewing kit, The Grain Father, we’ll coach you through the basics that lie behind the creation of a great brew. Along the way you’ll come to learn more about specific beer styles, flavour profiles and the little tips and tricks that can make all the difference to the brewing process.
Oh, and in answer to the question that’s definitely on your lips right now… Yes, you’ll also get a 5 Litre mini keg of your own beer to take away!

- A welcome from your host and a discussion on what will be covered.
- Learn more about the ingredients used to make beer.
- Sample different beers of the style you will be making on the day.
- Start adding ingredients and learning more about how different malts affect the beer.
- Experience mashing your brew.
- Enjoy lunch from our tasty food menu with a schooner of the beer of your choice.
- Add your hops and yeast.
- Finish off the brew as you learn how to cool it down and store it.
- Enjoy Innis & Gunn beer sample tastings throughout the day.
