ARCTIC ALE

A RARE OPPORTUNITY, 150 YEARS IN THE MAKING

Enter now for your chance to buy a truly special, limited-edition piece of brewing history - the Innis & Gunn 1875 Arctic Ale.

In 1875, Allsopp’s Brewery of Burton-upon-Trent brewed a beer strong enough to sustain the crew of HMS Alert, bound for the British Arctic Expedition. Designed to resist freezing and to nourish in the most extreme conditions, it became one of the world’s rarest beers.

In 2015, Innis & Gunn acquired a surviving bottle of that original Arctic Ale - a direct link to Victorian brewing history.

Now, on the 150th anniversary of its creation, Allsopp’s and Innis & Gunn have united to bring it back. With Allsopp’s archives and brewing records newly reopened following their return to British brewing, together we have revived the 1875 recipe - and incorporated a portion of that original ale into this extraordinary new brew.

Available exclusively through this ballot, successful entrants will have the opportunity to purchase a 500 ml bottle for £25.
