Kriek 2023 offers a modern twist on a classic, showcasing a summer beer packed with seasonal Scottish cherries.
Innis & Gunn Kriek beer takes all the familiar flavours of our beers, lager base with naked golden oats and crystal malt. Then it adds a mass of fresh cherries grown and picked under the Perthshire sun. The final step is a short cask maturation using second fill single malt whisky casks to add further depth and nuance.

“The cherry growing season is short, and we want to respect the seasonality and provenance of it by only releasing this beer in the summer.
“Many Belgian Kriek beers are brewed on a brown beer base, which gives a rich and almost chocolatey flavour. I wanted instead to celebrate the fragrance of our Perthshire cherries – and we bought two tonnes of them for this year’s edition. In this way, Kriek is based on our all-conquering lager and puts the cherries on the pedestal they deserve.”
