We’re launching 330ml cans of Innis & Gunn Original and Innis & Gunn Caribbean Rum Cask in Sweden.
This is a pack change, not a beer change.
The beer is exactly the same. The recipes are the same. The cask maturation is the same. What’s changing is the format, because cans are now the right fit for how Sweden buys, enjoys and recycles beer today.
For us, that matters.
Sweden has been one of our most important export markets for more than 20 years. It was one of the first places outside Scotland to really get what makes Innis & Gunn different, and it continues to be a market where drinkers care deeply about quality, flavour and how beer fits modern life.
That’s what makes this move feel right.
Because they work.
They chill quickly, travel well, are easy to store, and they protect beer brilliantly from light. They also fit naturally with a market like Sweden, where the can is already a well-established format and recycling rates are strong.
For a beer like ours, that means the same cask-matured character, in a format that feels more convenient and more in step with the way people shop today.
There’s another benefit too. Without getting lost in the detail, the tax and recycling system around cans in Sweden means we can now offer these beers at a lower price than bottle.
That means better value, without changing what’s in the can.
Everything that matters.
- Innis & Gunn Original is still our unmistakably smooth, cask-matured beer, with notes of caramel, roasted malt, toffee and gentle hop fruitiness.
- Innis & Gunn Caribbean Rum Cask still brings that rich, full-flavoured character with butterscotch, chocolate, dried fruit, vanilla, orange peel and spice.
And, just as importantly, our approach remains unchanged.
At Innis & Gunn, we use casks as a flavour ingredient. Original is matured with single malt whisky casks. Caribbean Rum Cask is matured with Caribbean rum casks. That cask-matured character is at the heart of both beers, and that stays exactly as it is.
From 6 March, 330ml cans start to become the lead format in Sweden for Original and Caribbean Rum Cask, available via Systembolaget at 19,90 kr + pant.
So, same beer. New format. Better fit.
