VOTE FOR CANADA'S NEXT GREAT BEER FLAVOUR
BARTENDER’S CHOICE FINAL
Final of the international bartender competition.
The final of our international bartender competition is taking place this week in Edinburgh. Over 300 people took part in Canada, Sweden and the UK, and only 6 have made it all the way through to the final to develop their beer recipes with Dougal and the team here.
What a great bunch they are, our finalists. And their beers all sound pretty tasty too:
Katie MacDonald (Bier Markt, Toronto, Canada) – A spiced wheat beer aged in cherry brandy infused oak
Jason Meehan (The Keg, Toronto, Canada) – A porter aged in cognac infused black cherrywood
David Ashton-Hyde (The Hind’s Head, Bray, England) – A smoked version of Original, with maple infused Bourbon Oak
Geoff Whittall (Café Fish, Edinburgh, Scotland) – A botanical, botanist Blonde beer flavoured with herbs and spices such as fennel, clove, anise, cicely
Tom Hyde (Angels with Bagpipes, Edinburgh, Scotland) – An IPA with Lapsang Souchong tea and orange, aged in Pedro Ximenez infused oak
Michael Andersson (The Fox & Anchor, Halmstad, Sweden) – A robust malty beer aged in cognac infused French Oak
Unfortunately Michael had to pull out just before he left Sweden. We wish him and his tooth a speedy recovery!
We’ll keep you posted on the results later in the week.
